Can you still have hair loss when all your blood tests are normal?

Do you need blood tests or pathology to determine the cause of hair loss?
Not necessarily.
In many cases, hair loss does not show up clearly in pathology results.
Normal Blood Tests Do Not Rule Out Pattern Hair Loss
For example, a hormone panel may come back entirely within the normal range, while someone can still have male or female pattern hair loss, also known as androgenetic alopecia.
Because of this, pathology is not always required to make a diagnosis.
Why Blood Tests May Still Be Useful
Although pathology is not always needed, doctors may still arrange blood tests for a couple of reasons.
One is simply peace of mind. Sometimes having those results can be reassuring.
Blood tests may also reveal other underlying issues that are worth correcting, such as low levels of:
Iron
Ferritin
Vitamin D
If these are low, it is useful to identify and address them.
Hair Loss Conditions That Do Not Necessarily Require Pathology
For conditions such as:
Alopecia areata
Frontal fibrosing alopecia
Male pattern hair loss
Female pattern hair loss
pathology is not necessarily required in order to make the diagnosis.
Blood tests can still have a role in identifying other issues, but they are not always what determines the diagnosis of the hair loss itself.
